AGBU Europe organizes Goriz in Armenia
In the framework of GORIZ Program, AGBU Europe will organize a seminar in Yerevan from 20 to 24 May 2010 in partnership with AGBU Armenian Representation, ACAB (Spain), HAIK (Germany), Inside Europe (Belgium), SIVAM (Russia), AGBU Sofia (Bulgaria), AGBU Damascus (Syria) and Jamanak (Turkey). It is entitled “Pro Democratia - Youth Seminar for Democracy and Civil Society reinforcement” and is funded with the support of “Youth in Action” Program from the European Commission. GORIZ (“Nucleus” in English) aims at seeking “talent” by discovering new leaders in different European communities, train, advise, network and accompany those leaders in achieving their Armenian projects in Europe or Armenia, or be active in some fashion, may they be researchers, intellectuals, politicians or professionals. GORIZ participants will have the chance to develop their leadership skills, conceive and implement projects with and in Armenia, learn how to communicate on topics linked to Armenia towards European authorities or even in their company, reinforce their contacts and be part of a European network of Armenian leaders. The first GORIZ seminar took place in Venice from 1 to 3 May 2009. It gathered 20 high potentials from all over Europe around the theme of lobbying. They also had the opportunity to visit some major Armenian places such as San Lazzaro Island. This year GORIZ will tackle the themes of democracy and civil society. With this seminar, AGBU Europe aims at making young people aware of the importance of democracy, its institutions and processes thanks to presentations of several experts. Some visits of Armenian major institutions and meetings with politicians should reinforce dialogue between the Youth and decision makers. The seminar will also lead to the development of projects fostering young people education to active participation in the society. Networking and intercultural dialogue will be particularly rich between participants from EU countries and EU neighbouring Partner Countries such as Armenia, Syria, Russia and Turkey.
