The history, language, poetry and Armenian literature, among others, are the topics of the activities that sporadically have been carried out during the last years in different parts of the city.
In 2003 the presentation of the book "The Forty Days of Musa Dagh" was carried out, a novel centered on the Armenian genocide perpetrated by the part of the Turkish state. In no time at all, several conferences on the history, culture and poetry of Armenians was organized.
In April of 2004, with the help of the Autonomous Solidary Foundation and of the Veterinary Faculty at the Universitat Autňnoma de Barcelona (U.A.B.), the Days of Armenia event was put together at the campus of the UAB, where the painters Anamarija and David Vartabediyan were invited to display their works from Belgrade, Serbia.
Finally, in October of 2005, the First Journeys of Armenia in Barcelona was organized under the title "In the shade of Ararat," with active participation from Maria Ohanessian, Sevada Sahakyan, Mihran Akdag, Siranoush y Gayanush Sahakyan, Hayk Galstyan, Ana Sagriyan, Melina Manoukian, Gor Abgaryan y Tatveik Galopan.
The success obtained in these Journeys strengthened the desire of all the participants in forming an association devoted to showing the culture and the reality of Armenians.
Today the group is called "Armenian Cultural Association of Barcelona”, which was officially registered in the Catalunyan Assembly in November of 2006. |
